Last week, a local group celebrated a successful game during the ladies two wood triples county quarter final.
The proceedings took place on the community's green; Karen Hollingdale, Sue Turner, and Jane Painter, also known as the "terrific trio", were pitted against an admirable team from Topsham B.C.
Despite the dismal weather on the evening of the event, several members attended to support the match, watching primarily from the neighbouring pavilion.
The game took place on the evening of September 7.
The encounter turned out to be riveting, ending in a nail-biting dead heat at 13 all after 17 rounds.
However, the deciding end was won by Ms Hollingdale putting their wood right on the jack leaving the score at Sidmouth 14 Topsham 13, a thrilling victory for our local ladies.
As a result, this trio from Sidmouth is now set to proceed to the Devon semi-final, the location of which will be either in Ottery or South Molton.
In a related vein, the Jubilee Trophy, also known as the Ladies Devon County Annual Intersection Competition, underwent recently.
This competition sees the division of Devon into eight sections, inviting four rinks from four different clubs within each to participate in a knockout contest.
This year, Seaton, Madeira, Ottery, and naturally Sidmouth received these invitations.
The thrilling contest saw Section three, containing Sidmouth's ladies, earning a victory over Section five by eight shots.
As a result of this victory, Section three is now expected to proceed to the semi-finals held at Torbay Country Club on September 14.
This successful run will hopefully lead to a repeat of long past successes recall members of the community fondly.
In other local news, Sidmouth organised four complete rinks to participate in a friendly match in Chardstock, with the only winning rink organised by Jean Brimson, Alan Clarke, Anita Mason and John Mason.
Naturally, the various activities around town involve the Sidmouth ladies triples league.
This includes the blue team and the yellow team, both of whom have shown marked improvement in recent games.
To illustrate this, the blue team recently enjoyed victories against Seaton Red and Tiverton Borough.
In a last-minute update, Anita Mason and Jane Painter took part in the county over 70 pairs quarter-final held at Bovey Tracey.
The pair came out victorious with a score of 18-8, and will now proceed to the semi-finals where they will compete against former Sidmouth player Valerie Newnham and her partner.
