Tipton lost to neighbours Ottery St Mary by seven runs in a game they should have won.

Ottery elected to bat and were soon in trouble losing two wickets with no runs on the board. Firstly Dean was run out with a fine throw by Chris Mason and Chris Tubbs took the first of two good catches to dismiss Locke off the bowling of Channon.

Adam Gibbins took two wickets to leave Ottery in trouble at 14-4. However, a fine partnership between Holt (25) and Southall Brown (39) steadied the ship and the good work was carried on by Pritchard (34) which took Ottery to a respectable 152.

With Phil Wright having to depart to hospital for stitches, for an injury accrued whilst spilling a catch on the boundary, Phil Tolley had to bowl eight overs and finished with 4-27. David O’Higgins took 2 -32 the second wicket being his 650th for Tipton, not bad for a 75-year-old!

So, having let Ottery off the hook, Tipton started well having reached 90 without loss at the half way mark.

The wheels then came off once Dave Dawson (30) and Phil Tolley (66) were dismissed by Faulkner in the space of three overs. Only Chris Tubbs managed double figures and Tipton were all out for 145 in the last over.

Four players for Ottery bagged two wickets each in a good team performance in the field.
