Brian Alabaster won Monday’s Charles Stanley stableford at Sidmouth, writes George Carr.
Alabaster, playing off 19, played steadily to close on 41 points.
Merve Baker, only a shot behind on 40 points had used only five of his 12 shots to the turn and, but for a rueful blob on the 17th, might have improved his sweep money!
The omnipotent Martin White with yet another level par gross 66 (three birdies - three bogeys) for a hard-earned 40 points, had to settle for third place on count-back.
Rod Wallace proved better than his 11 handicap with 39 points and club captain John Rockey used only six of his nine shots for the same score (39) proving his recent success in the Vet’s Cup was no flash in the pan and that he is quite comfortable with his ever-decreasing handicap - so far!
