After an extremely successful season, with only one evening match cancelled because of rain, the Sunset Mixed Umbrella final has now taken place, writes Jill Lewis.
The evening was cool but the game was played in sunshine and, with the anticipation of the buffet presentation supper to follow, no-one minded that there was an autumnal ‘nip’ in the air!
A very big thank you to all those who made the Mixed Umbrella such a lovely event - the players preparing the food, the bar men, but especially to all those who took part over the last five months - there would be no evening umbrella without all your support.
I am pleased to announce that the winner of the trophy this year is Anita Mason, just beating Brian Smith by a few points. Anita was keeping it in the family as last year’s winner was her husband, John. Perhaps next year’s winner will be Brian’s wife, Mary!
