After such a great win last week at home to a strong Sampford side, Otters were hoping with yet again a strong squad to get three points at home to Exmouth Amateurs.Within the first minute the away team had hit the post and it looked as though it was going to be a very tough afternoon for the home team. But, on their first attack, from a free kick taken by Ash Bridston, Dean Goddard put in a powerful cross from the right which resulted in an Exmouth defender turning the ball into the net.Straight from the kick off the Otters did not look up for the task and Exmouth levelled ten minutes later. The Exmouth visitors were always first to the ball and far stronger than the young Ottery side and this showed as they mounted more and more of a challenge. They were rewarded in the 42nd minute with goal three, after a long throw in on the left went over two Ottery defenders. Before manager Mark Murrin and assistant Aaron Carpanini had even got into their dugout it was 4-1 to Exmouth.Subs, including youngster Sam Czeres, came on and Captain Steve Hunt was pushed up front, but this did not change the game.Ottery always looked second best but at times played good football to feet but we all know that this does not win games. Again adapting to different styles of play needs to be addressed by the squad and as individuals. Ottery totally looked the weaker side as Exmouth had strength in all positions. Saturday, home to Axmouth, 3pm kick off.
