Tipton St John recorded the Macron League Division Two ‘result-of-the-day’ when they defeated Royal Oak 2-1.
The reason the result was all the more remarkable was the fact that, before kick-off, Royal Oak sat top of the table having won nine and drawn one of their 10 games while Tipton sat in the bottom two, still looking for their first win after three draws and four defeats from their first seven games.
However, the form book was tossed aside as goals from Sam Baker and Haydn Banfield saw Tipton to victory.
Tomorrow (Saturday), Tipton will climb out of the bottom three for the first time this season if they can win at home to a Priory side that will start the game sitting fourth bottom, immediately above Tipton.
Both teams have six points. However, Exeter-based Priory currently sport a slightly better goal difference.
