Mark Bathard claimed first spot from thirty-four fellow golfers in the latest playing of the regular Friday event, the Sidmouth Jeweller’s stableford, writes George Carr.
Having birdied the first Bathard carded forty points; this in spite of recording a seven, two eights and a nine on his card - which proves how helpful a handicap of twenty can be!
Duncan Taylor’s gross sixty-five for thirty-nine points including four birdies left him in second place on count-back from John Jones on the same score (thirty-nine points from a gross sixty-seven) all of which shows what a great leveller golf’s handicap system is.
David Heywood claimed fourth spot with 38 points closely followed by a queue of players on 37 points; Ed Willis, C.M. Roberts, Dave Peperell and Steve Channing - better luck next time chaps.
