Last weekend was a quiet one for racing; with Sidmouth RC members gearing up for the annual Beat the Bus challenge, writes Sarah Brown.
However, Rachel Burrow tackled the Torbay Half Marathon, a hilly two-lap course that attracts 2,500 runners, including elites. Starting in Paignton and completing a loop going up and down into Torquay twice, the 13.1miles is a tough challenge for any runner! Luckily (for runners) Sunday dawned cool and cloudy and Rachel completed the course in 2.13 hours and should be very happy with such a good time on such a hard route!
Thirteen runners battled wind and rain in the monthly Muttersmoor time trials. Jane Beech was first home on the 3.8 mile course, ahead of four male runners with debutant time triallist Sue Ashby fifth. Joe Ashby ran a season’s best of 15.50mins on the 2.1 mile short course.
