Members and guests of the Beer and District Sea Angling Association (BDSAA) celebrated another successful year of shore and boat angling on Saturday with their dinner and presentation night held at the Dolphin Hotel Beer.

Thirty eight people attended the function which found them dining on a good wholesome meal provided by the hotel chef and team, followed by a fundraising raffle and then the presentation of cups, awards and certificates.

BDSAA is this celebrating 50 years since inauguration, and finds members embarking on a variety of challenges to raise funds for the Neo Natal Unit at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital, amongst which will be a fifty species challenge, a fifty hour long Fish–A–Thon and various other fund raising events.

Stewart Leach, speaking on behalf of the club said that all members were mindful of the history of the club, and are aware that sea Angling has changed in its ethos and approach to sustainability over the years, all anglers are now aware of the delicate balance to be arrived at between their chosen pastime and the environment and marine ecology, we encourage all anglers to join a club and follow the guidelines of the Angling Trust when in pursuance of their sport, be it for fun or food.
