Beer Reserves were beaten 4-2 when they travelled into Exeter to face University Fourths in a Macron League Division Three match.
After going 2-0 down, Jay Catley pulled a goal back from a penalty, before University restored their two goal advantage.
An Alex Padget header then gave the Albion hope at 3-2 before the students slotted in their fourth to open their season on a winning note.
Next up for the Fishermen’s second string is an away trip to Tedburn St Mary this Saturday (September 22).
