BETH Ford held her nerve for a clear round which resulted in a win for Devon in the junior team showjumping event at Exeter Equestrian Centre, Poltimore. Her side beat two teams from each of Somerset, Dorset and Cornwall as well as another Devon four. The first round was over a 1.05m course and the Devon team Beth was in also included Jed Peacock, James Wilson and Tasmin Putt. In the first round Jed had four faults, James went clear, Tasmin had four and Beth and her pony Kookie went clear. At the end of the first round Devon were lying in third. The course was raised to 1.10 and everyone had to go again. Jed had a pole down for four faults, James and Tasmin went clear. Beth was the very last rider to go and, at that time, if she made a mistake Devon would have to jump off against Somerset. Kookie was amazing and jumped clear and the roof was raised with cheers as Wendy Spiller announced that Beth had secured first place for Devon. All the team members received rugs and money sponsored by the BSJA Junior Academy.
