Newton Abbot 1, Sidmouth Town 7 Sidmouth Town Under-15s travelled to South Devon to take on their long-time rivals and returned having comprehensively beaten them.

Both side probed the others defence in the early exchanges, but it was Sidmouth who began to take control and they opened the scoring with a slick move that ended with Jonny Dunn netting.

The lead was doubled when great pressure applied by Connor Murphy resulted in the home gloves man’s attempted clearance cannoning off Murphy and into the net!

More pressure, this time applied by Joe Miller left Harvey Sargent making it 3-0 and, with Sargent and Tyler Wellman controlling the middle third Sidmouth were able to take their lead through to half-time in some comfort.

After the break Town continued to dominate and should have scored before Murphy struck with his second and the sides fourth.

A fifth followed soon after when Roel Ruigrok fired home from outside the area.

Good approach play from Alister Forsyth led to Ed Doble putting Town 6-0 up.

The hosts tried manfully to get back into the game, but got no change out of a solid Town back line of Tom Orchard, Dylan King, Jamie Newbery and Jonny Surtees who collectively made sure that keeper Jake Sellick had a quiet morning.

Fittingly the seventh and final Town goal was scored by skipper Jamie Newberry to mark his birthday!

With the last kick off the game the well-beaten home side netted a consolation.

This was an outstanding all-round performance from a confident and well-organised Town side who tomorrow play Cullompton Rangers.
