Feniton suffered a third defeat in five D Division outings when beaten by 14 runs at Acland Park by Ottery St Mary.

Batting first, the visitors were denied maximum batting points as they closed on 193-9 with Jon Pyle bowling a hat-trick as he retuned figures of 4-34.

The reply was hit by wickets falling at vital times with only Adrian Pullen (38) and Rob Pfeiffer (34), able to make much impression, with the final wicket falling on 179 with young Sam Loud claiming a four wicket haul for the Otters.

Feniton II fared much better in their game as they landed a two wicket win at Honiton II. Andy Rose provided the all-round inspiration, first claiming 3-33 and he and Stuart Bright (3-61) bowled the hosts out for 203. Rose then hit 41, as he, and Dan Lewis (65), led the successful run chase, which closed the game out on 206-8.

This coming Saturday (June 11), which marks the completion of one third of the Francis Clark Devon league season, the 1st XI are at Acland Park, where they entertain Yelverton, whilst the 2nd XI travel to Instow to meet North Devon III.
