The Seagulls pulled off a superb win at Elmore to keep their promotion challenge going. The plaudits must go to keeper Will Allan who made two magnificent saves to deny the home side and Keiron Fayter-Small who turned in another stunning display at centre half, Fayter-Small was voted star man for the second game running but the rest of the defenders, Richard Bacon and Dan Tavender, also deserved much credit for their performances. It was Kevin Dorman who supplied the goals as he found his touch again. His first came on 65 minutes from a wonderful cross-field pass from Russell Coombs that he controlled superbly before thundering the ball past the bewildered keeper. His second came on 75 minutes after Chris Anning held the ball long enough for Dorman to run through and strike past the despairing keeper. It was a sweet moment for Sidbury legend 'Jacko' Anning as he has only just returned to playing football following a couple of years out of the game.He was sent on for the hard working Dean Goddard to hold the ball up to take the mounting pressure from Elmore, which he did superbly in helping his side double their lead. There was a scare with a couple of minutes remaining when Elmore scored with a good header following a mix-up in the penalty area but Sidbury held on for a very important three points.Manager Mel Coombs said: "It's brilliant for us at the moment to be able to field the side I did when I have key players missing like James Beverley, Ben Woolley and Matt Rasmussen."We have quality all round but we did struggle a bit in the first half before a few harsh words from coach Bob Calderhead sorted it out. The second half display was excellent, our keeper is proving to be a massive influence on the team and the saves he made were top class."Keiron just seems to be getting better each game. We know its going to be tough to stay where we are at the moment but if we keep churning out results like this we might just have a chance of being amongst the leaders come the end of the season."l This Saturday the first team travel to Alphington Res while the second team host Bickleigh Res, both games kicking off at 3pm.
