Andy Thompson who is registered as blind, although having some slight useful sight, has been called up to play in the Devon Premier Short Mat Bowls side to face Taunton away this coming Sunday.
This is unique in the history of the sport as Andy will be playing pairs with another registered blind bowler, Ken Kelly from Exeter.
Short Mat bowls is a very technical game, played indoors, and its a fully sighted game and league.
Thompson played for Sidford Short Mat bowls club before going to Silverton SMBC this season
