The Sidford Men’s team continue to find life tough in Division 2 of the Exeter Tennis & District League, writes Graham Baker.

The team did pick up a couple of points in their away match against league leaders Torquay B before losing both home and away to a very strong Okehampton team.

In between they narrowly lost 5-4 to Exeter Golf and Country Club B before recording their best victory of the season to date, a 7-2 victory against Exeter Golf and Country Club C, a match which saw Paul Carter and Graham Baker win both their games in three sets, they were well supported by Will Boyd and Will Macfarlane who won one of their games in straight sets before losing the second in a championship tie break.

With three matches remaining the team remain locked in a relegation battle with both the Exeter Golf and Country Clubs teams.

In the East Devon League the mixed team have dropped only two points in their last four matches along the way recording 8 nil victories over Woodbury, Seaton B and Willand. The long established pairing of Marilyn Barlow with Graham Baker were unbeaten in all four matches, they were well supported by Paul Carter with Jane Chalk and the exciting new pairing of Helen Bradford and Will Boyd who produced an almost faultless performance in their first appearance of the season against Willand.
