Dartmouth 5, Sidmouth HC ladies 2nd XI 0

This week’s match, played at Dartmouth Naval College, was undoubtedly the most challenging of the season so far, writes Vicky Black.

Susie Bedford, stand in goalie for the second week running, stopped numerous superb shots with some amazing saves and was Player of the Match. The Sidmouth defenders were forced to work to their highest ability and intercepted a number of attempts on goal and closed down numerous short corners. However, by the half time whistle, the away side were down by two goals.

Dartmouth secured many short corners but were only successful on one opportunity due to some excellent defending from the Sidmouth backline, especially by Molly Adkin, Liz Knapp and Sophie Mack. Even though Sidmouth clearly saw they couldn’t win towards the end, the team spirit was high and communication remained excellent.

The final score does not reflect the hard work put in by the Sidmouth team, Bedford, who was unanimously voted player of the match by both the Sidmouth and Dartmouth side, with the support of the rest of the team put in an excellent performance, which created much frustration within the Dartmouth team.
