Sidmouth Squash Club are in the final weeks of preparation leading up to the start of the new playing season. This year the club have added a racketball team to the established squash team and will play in the second tier of Devon league racketball, writes Rob Cann.

Racketball is one of the fastest growing sports in the UK with most of the players having attended the excellent racketball courses held at Sidmouth Sports Centre by England Squash and Racketball. Any old or existing players of any standard and juniors wishing to try the sport for the first time should contact Sidmouth Sports Centre who will be running courses in the coming months.

The club would like to thank Lynnette and Francois at the Black Horse Inn for sponsorship this season and agreeing to provide the customary after-match meals and drinks the teams are required to provide to the visiting clubs.

The season gets under way on Tuesday, October 2 when the racketball team play their first ever league match at home to Culm Valley, followed two days later by the squash team’s first home fixture against Devon & Exeter 7.
