Ottery St Mary ladies were beaten 6-4 when they visited Budleigh Salterton for their latest Devon Women’s League outing.

The game was every bit as close as the score suggests with both teams scoring some excellent goals.

Georgia Chapman scored two of the Otterettes’ goals and the others were netted by Karin Underwood and Georgia Baker.

Ottery men’s boss, who was at the game, said: “The one big difference between the teams was the fact that while the home side had 16 players available to them, our ladies had only 12 and in a contest that allows for rolling subs throughout, it meant that Budleigh were able to throw on fresh legs at regular intervals, something that the Otterettes were not able to do.

“Mike [Ottery ladies’ coach, together with club chairman Mike Ringer] has certainly got the team showing so much improvement. He works very hard with them and there’s no doubting both the talent in the squad and the enthusiasm they show as a group each time they play.”

New players are always welcome at Ottery Football Club, be they for the men’s team or the Otterettes.
