Chard 2, Sidmouth Town Res 1
Division Two
Sidmouth Reserves lost their first game of 2012 after going down to an unfortunate 2-1 defeat at second-placed Chard.
Playing uphill in the first half and on a mud bath of a pitch they really worked hard and actually looked the better team for long periods, but a lapse in concentration allowed Chard to take a 1-0 lead into the break.
They came out in the second half looking like they were going to demolish the home team and deservedly squared the game from a Tom Perryman free kick on 55 mins.
After that both teams had half chances, but it was Chard who scored the killer goal from a charge down to seal a fortuitous win. Disappointed manager Nick Ogden could only say: "We came to get a win, and even a point would have done, but to get nothing really hurts and the lads are not happy. We played very well in the first half and when we got level I could only see us winning but, sadly, any errors from us at the moment are being punished. We have to dust ourselves off and come back stronger next week at Tiverton and I'm sure we will. The whole team worked well but for me Tom Perryman was Man of the Match."
