There was a large turnout of 70 players for the Charles Stanley Monday Stableford on a glorious August bank holiday and the good scoring reflected the weather and course conditions, writes John Rockey.

With 43 points (seven shots better than his handicap), Ken Rothwell claimed the top spot and with it he also collected a handicap reduction to 18.

Second was Geoff Lory with 41 points. Lory has figured in the winners circle regularly of late and as a result has merited an exceptional handicap reduction to lower his handicap from 22 to 18. In third place was Jevon Astley-Jones who also had 41 points, but lost out for second place on a count back. Astley-Jones also attracted the attention of the ‘handicappers’ and had his handicap cut from six to five.
