This week’s Charles Stanley Monday Stableford winner with 42 points was Vernon Ruffle, again scoring really well after his great October medal win, writes John Barnard.

He started with a birdie on the first hole and then managed half a dozen pars off his fairly high but rapidly reducing handicap.

Two poor holes held him back from a great score. In second place was Simon Emerson with 40 points with his usual mixed round. Two birdies were the highlight, offset by a couple of double bogies.

Mark Thomas was third (again) with 38 points and he is danger of having his handicap reduced to four over the winter months which could prove expensive

In the Eclectic, Harrison Jones retains his lead with a nett 44, but only by one shot from Mike Knight and Nick Gingell.
