The Jurassic Coast 10K took place last Sunday after a break last year.

It was even more popular this year with 253 entrants, all proceeds going to FORCE.

The race starts on Budleigh Salterton seafront, goes up river for a short distance, then due south and onto the coast path for a beautiful, scenic, fairly tough, first half before turning inland.

The second half is much easier than the first, with some flatish paths and cool shade.

Iain 'I must get a club vest' Burns had a very good run (39th) in 45:06, then John Hanson ran well (52nd) 47:30, closely followed by Don Cawthera (58th) 48:09. Di had Don in her sights all the way but couldn't catch him, and tripped all the way to the finish (62nd) 48:41 with Debbie Marriott finishing in 49:58 (74th).

Sean Tipton was very pleased to come in the top half of the field (104th 52:30 unofficial). Brian Gosling 55:54 and Helen Palmer 58:15 were also pleased to get in under an hour, well done. Good effort from Dave Welsh - only 43 seconds over the hour.

Barry Chapman also had a good run in 57:01, so go ahead and join the club Barry! Great to see SRC running vests there, we all felt like part of a team - and it's easier to spot a fellow club runner nearing the finish line, so they can get an extra loud cheer.

This Bank Holiday Monday sees Sidmouth runners once again descend on Lustleigh where the popular 10k multi-terrain event is at the heart of the Lustleigh Show.

Sunday, September 13, Sidbury Fun Run

As it starts to get darker earlier please remember that the club insists on the wearing of reflective tops when running with the club at night. This applies to everyone (adults and Juniors) and on all club nights so make sure you are prepared well in advance. It comes on us all of a sudden. Penny Maskill may have a few club ones left for sale.

We all love dogs, but they have caused a few nasty falls when either they or we have got a bit overexcited. The committee has decided not to allow any dogs to accompany club runs.

Race Organisation. England Athletics are putting on a Roadshow which should be helpful for race organisers as well as providing general information on road running.

It is at Taunton on Thursday, September 3, from 7 - 9 pm and the club should be represented. Anyone interested in going up with John Perratt should contact him on (01395) 513611.
