Sidmouth Town twice came from behind before deservedly banking a share of the spoils in an entertaining East Devon derby at Axminster Town that saw all four goals in then contest scored after the break.

The first half of the contest at Tiger Way, saw plenty of end-to-end action with both teams looking to play on the front foot.

However, a large turnout of support for both teams had to wait until 10 minutes into the second half when Aaron Daniels fired the home side into the lead.

The game remained with just the single goals until 15 minutes from time when Rob Knight scored a superb goal.

Just a minute later the Vikings were once again staring a pre-Christmas Saturday defeat in the face when Jamie Barfoot brushed aside the challenge of the Town central defenders to make it 2-1.

The Vikings have endure a ‘two steps forward and one step backwards’ season so far, but the thing they have not lacked from day one of the campaign is character and they once again dug deep to secure a share of the spoils in the final minute when Matt Clenahan controlled a long ball and gleefully drilled it home.

Town are back in action on Boxing Day morning with a second successive East Devon derby – an 11am kick-off at Budleigh Salterton who were beaten by the odd goal in seven on their visit to St Martins on Saturday.
