At the beginning of the week it looked certain that yet another Beer and District Sea Angling Association boat competition would fall victim to the bad weather, but as the week progressed the winds eased and finally we were able to fish, writes Chris Sweetland.
Fishing out of Dartmouth aboard the African Queen with plaice top of the agenda, everyone had a fantastic days fishing.
The competition was fished on a catch and release basis. In all there were 111 plaice being caught, the majority were returned, which is great to see.
John Cornell emerged as the top angler on the day with 240 points.
He also had a nice plaice of 3lbs 3ozs.
Second place went to Dave Graham with 225 points.
There were no fewer than four anglers tied for third spot with 190 points.
What the result means is that Joe Westlake is the leader of the Boat Championship with 760 points.
In second place sits Matt Cornell with 590 whilst John Stevens holds third spot with 586 points.
