There is growing hope for Devon cricket clubs that league action could be ready to start from the beginning of May.
Tipton St John CC have cut the square in readiness for full pitch preparations after the Tolchards Devon Cricket League released a statement confirming their hopes for a full 18-week league programme this summer.
League cricket was one of the sports given a green light to commence on March 29 in the Government’s roadmap out of Covid restrictions.
Fixtures for the new season have been drawn up and, providing there is no upsurge in Covid infection rates, the cricket whites will be back on.
Devon League fixture secretary Phil Bees told the Devon Cricket website: “We see no reason at this stage why we can’t have a complete season starting on May 1.”
As well as a full league season, plans are also in place for the traditional cup competitions to take place.
