Area pony racers compete in finals

OVER 70 former pony racing riders now hold jockeys’ licences under rules. The Devon and Cornwall finals were held at the last point to point of the season and the winners were Hannah Welch (Bronze Lawrance) in the 138 race and Bryony Frost (Tarka) in the 148cm race.

Hannah also won the area points championship for the Synderborough Farm Ltd Rising Stars trophy sponsored by Stewart and Monique Pike of Sidbury, who breed and train racehorses. Chloe Grove won the 148cm championship for the Allerton Organics trophy. Everys Solicitors sponsored hoodies for the first three home in each of the points championship competitions.

The championship leading riders were: Chloe Grove (1st 148), Heidi Lewis (3rd 138), Hannah Welch (1st 138 and 3rd 148), Barnaby Treneer (2nd 138) and Chester Williams (2nd 48). To find out more about pony racing go to
