Devon Lions didn't quite have the firepower to match Worcester Royals in this week's Spin Magazine T20 challenge match.
The game was organised as part of the benefit season fund-raising events for Worcester batsman Ben Smith, who top scored with 52 in his side's total of 199 for five, writes Conrad Sutcliffe.
Devon's Neil Hancock clubbed 51 off just 27 balls, which included four sixes in one over from spinner Ian Fisher, but, in the grand scheme of the game, got out an over too soon at 125 for four.
James Hudson made a quick 24 and Dan Bowser tipped and ran for 19. But 24 to win off the last over was just too many and Devon finished 11 runs short of victory on 189 for six.
Earlier in proceedings, opener Sandy Allen had made 26 and Rob Holman hit Gareth Batty for three fours on the reel towards his 29
The game pulled in a crowd of around 700, who were treated to some fantastic big hitting by both sides.
Hancock might have been the local favourite, but Moeen Ali also entertained with a breathless 50 off just 22 balls. A sizeable slice of those runs came in one over from Ian Hishop, which cost him 33 off the bat.
