Sidmouth powered their way into the last eight of the Devon Senior Cup with a 97-run win over Bovey Tracey at Fortfield.

Not for the first time this season, Liam Lewis and Matt Cooke gave their team a superb start. Cooke plundered a 32-ball 41 whilst Lewis went on to crash a dozen 4s and five 6s in a superb innings of 119.

Pete Randerson (27) and Luke Bess (26) chipped in as Sidmouth closed on 240-8.

The visitors, who, like Sidmouth have won all fur of their Francis Clark Devon League Premier Division matches this season, had no answer to the all-round bowling attack of Sidmouth.

No fewer than six different bowlers claimed wickets. Harrison Jones took the individual honours with 3-35 and there were single wickets for Josh Bess, Scott Barlow, Will Gater, Liam Lewis and Miles Dalton.

Bovey were bundled out for 143 inside 35 overs.

Sidmouth skipper Will Murray said: “That was a classy knock from Liam (Lewis). The key for me I this game was the spirit and the fact that all the players performed with a smile on their face. Mind you, they can afford to smile playing at the consistency they are right now. We are producing some very good cricket with bat and ball on a regular basis, long may it continue.”

In the last eight Sidmouth will entertain Torquay on Sunday, June 16. The other quarter final ties are Paignton versus Plymouth, Cornwood versus Exeter and Exmouth versus Plymstock.
