Ottery St Mary skipper looking for response after Chagford defeat

Ottery St Mary skipper Jody Clements was both surprised and disappointed with his team’s performance in their defeat to Chagford, writes Stephen Birley.
Clements said: “It was one of those days when everything seemed flat from the off. I can’t put my finger on what went wrong other than the standard woe of too many players under performing on the day and so we got what we deserved form the game – nothing!”
He continued: “It’s disappointing for Ipplepen and Kingsbridge both lost as well and had we been able to win then the gap between us and a top three finish would have been within touching distance.”
The Otters have four to play and they take on the bottom four in those games which gives them a great chance of still bagging that third spot.
It’s bottom of the table Clyst St George tomorrow and Clements says: “They (Clyst) won last weekend so will be confident. For us it’s quite clear that we need a performance to ensure that the Chagford defeat was merely a blip for us. We need to finish the season strongly.”
