Sidmouth 2nds duly recorded their 10th straight C Division East win when they breezed to a nine wicket win over Whimple at the Fortfield.

The visitors won the toss and opted to bat first and made a good start, reaching 86 without loss. However, once the first wicket fell, others followed in quick succession as the visitors slipped to 159-8 before limping to 182-9 at the end of their 45 overs.

It was fourth change bowler Matt Cooke who did the damage, returning impressive figures of 4-23 from seven overs and there were two wickets for Nick Gingell and one each for Charlie Dibble and Daley Holmes.

The successful Sidmouth run chase was duly completed inside 26 overs for the loss of just one wicket – that of Matt Cooke; who fell for a 46-ball knock of 61. Nick Gingell, with a 32-ball, unbeaten 52, he hit eight fours and two sixes, and Isaac Thomas, who scored an unbeaten 54 from 78 balls, saw Sidmouth home.
