Sidmouth Colts Cricket marked the end of what has certainly been another terrific season when they held a presentation, buffet, raffle and staged fun cricket games in a well-attended evening meeting at the club’s Fortfield home.
Rachel Perram, the Sidmouth Colts coordinator, gave grateful thanks to all the support that she and the section have received during the year.
Particular thanks were passed onto Rob Fowler for all his guidance and advice, to Fionn Wardrop the Sidmouth CC club chairman, to Richard Summers for finance and scoring for the Under-13s, to Anthony Denny for his splendid work on the play cricket side of the game and to Julie Clayden for all her sterling bar management work.
Special thanks were then expressed to all the colts team trainers, ably managed by Matt Cooke, the various age group team managers and helpers.
The Sidmouth Colts section ‘Clubman of the Year’ honour was presented to the Fortfield groundsman, Colin Whitehall, of whom Rachel says: “It’s thanks to Colin’s work that we have a ground that is the envy of the region, and he does such additional work in setting things up for each of our matches.”
There was then a break from tradition with players being presented with useful awards in the form of club caps and certificates.
All players received a ‘reactaball’, something that is specifically designed to help improve fielding and catching skills. Immediate practice ensued!
The buffet was provided by kind contributions from parents, with a magnificent paella for the adults made by the Littlejohn family.
A raffle followed, aided by the vocal skills of Mike Dibble, with some amazing prizes kindly donated by: Fords, The Belmont Hotel, Aspara, Polka, Blush, Space, Somerset County Cricket Club, The Volunteer and the Anchor Inn.
