The Somerset side batted first and started well reaching 50 before Mark Channon bowled Richard Farmbrough for 35.

However, from 75-1 they slumped to 90-6 mainly thanks to a vintage spell of bowling from David O’Higgins, who belied his 82 years with 5-39.

Phil Wright, a mere youngster at 66, chipped in with 3-28 as the visitors were restricted to 163, mainly achieved due to opener Geoff Sharp who remained undefeated on 65.

On a fast outfield, Tipton quickly knocked off the required runs as both Phil Tolley and David Jessop retired with 52 each, with Dave Thayre adding 33, and Keith Collins 18, victory was reached with 18 overs to spare.
