Tipton St John hosted two touring teams over the weekend and suffered heavy defeats in both matches, writes Phil Wright.
On Saturday a youthful Swindon United Churches demolished a weakened Tipton team by 159 runs.
A score of 257-7 was always going to be enough to beat Tipton, but the visitors’ bowlers showed no mercy, dismissing Tipton for 78.
David O’Higgins made amends for his first over which cost 17 runs by taking 3-38 and Jem Gillham celebrated a rare bowl with 2-29.
Tipton lost David Jessop to the second ball of their reply and, once Steve Walker and Alex Tubbs had been removed for 21 and 24 respectively, it was a case of wickets tumbling as seven fell for the addition of just 11 more runs leaving the reply high an dry on 78!
