OTTERY St Mary under-11s got their Bradley's East Devon campaign up and running but fell to defeat in their opening game at a rain hit Blundell's School ground against hosts Heathcoat.Dan Pyle hit 33 before retiring, he struck a couple of huge 6's off county bowler Will Thomas whilst George Hoult chipped in with 20 and George Southall-Brown scored 10 whilst Ollie Mitchell was the pick of the home bowlers with 1-5.As the reply began so the heavens opened and this made life very difficult for the fielding side as the ball got soggier and soggier to such a degree that the run chase became something of a formality.Heathcoat won by four wickets on 120-6, Southall-Brown producing the best Ottery figures with 1-9 in four excellent overs whilst both Joe Henkus and young Pyle also picked up a wicket each at a cost of 10 runs but it was opener bowler Tom Hinch who caught the eye with four very lively overs in difficult conditions.Ottery coach Steve Loud said: "The difference was the way they (Heathcoat) took their one's and two's, they ran very well and of course then rain came at the right time for them.
