Sidmouth players stay busy

The Chairman’s Garden is a strip of land between lawn 4 and the car park. Work began on its transformation four years ago with 11 pairs of willing hands taking on the task. There are still 11 members forming a working party who meet every four to six weeks to keep on top of the job.

The Garden has once again won a Sidmouth in Bloom Gold Award (third year running) and Neil Gamble, Chairman of the Sidmouth Cricket, Croquet, Tennis and Hockey Club, recently held a thank-you celebratory lunch for the working party members.

Sidmouth, having reached the semi-finals of the B League, were pitted against Nailsea SE, who they beat last year at this stage of the competition. However, this time, it was Nailsea who triumphed 4-3 and will now play Nailsea Central in the final.

l All internal club competitions have now been completed and awards will be made at the AGM this coming Wednesday. The Devonia Cup is the first tournament for new players and open to those with an 18+ handicap. The final between Peter Nelson and Colin Walls was a closely- contested game, with Peter hitting in often enough to emerge the victor. Congratulations Peter!
