SIDMOUTH powerboat racer Tony Crossley closed the gap at the top of the P1 SuperStock championship points table after two emphatic wins yesterday at the Plymouth Grand Prix of the Sea.

Crossley and driver Rupert Pugh were unstoppable as they blazed away from the field to win both rounds and score a maximum 40 points.

The double win comes on the back of retirement from the second race in Jersey and puts the Edox Swiss Watches-sponsored crew firmly back in the title hunt.

Crossley said: “It’s a great feeling to win after the frustration of retiring from the lead at the opening round in Jersey”, and he continued, “It was an awesome second race and a great weekend, although we had inter-com failure so it was quite hard to co-ordinate and it cost us some time.” Tony added. “Rupert and I have formed a really good team which is working well – when we can hear each other!”

Crossley now turns his attention to the next round on the Humber in Hull over the last weekend of the month.
