The fourth round of the Sidmouth Jewellers Friday Night League was played with some of the players from the charity golf day also marking a card for this competition although it was a smaller entry than usual, writes John Barnard.
Guy Davis won and has regularly figured in the top places in April so his handicap is beginning to better reflect his undoubted ability. An excellent 23 point back nine meant he scored 39 points to win by one from Craig Melluish and see his handicap reduced to 16. Craig had a steadier back nine, still with 20 points and this was enough to keep Kevin Howe in third place (still two prizes in one day though).
The Friday night league is now beginning to take shape. With his win on Friday, Guy Davis is now leading the table with 23 points closely followed by Mark Thomas with 21. In third place are John Jones and Craig Melluish both on 20 points. Early days yet though, this will run until late October
