It deserved to be part of a winning team, instead of an abandonment, but Sidmouth batsman Isaac Thomas still won't forget his maiden century in a hurry - and rightly so.
The right-hander, who has worked his way up through Fortfield's junior sides, opened against Plymouth in the Devon League Premier Division and carried his bat for 104 not out in 50 overs.
Anchoring Sidmouth's 259-5, Thomas faced 154 balls and scored 12 fours and one six, while his captain Luke Bess added 58.
The day ended in frustration, rain stopping Sidmouth following up with the ball, but they're still up to fifth in the table ahead of an important trip to leaders Paignton this Saturday.
Last weekend featured a 59-run win for Paignton at previous leaders Sandford, but one slightly worrying development.
The Bovey Tracey-v-Hatherleigh game was called off because six Hatherleigh players had to self-isolate under Covid-19 rules. Everyone hopes that's a one-off…
In the A Division, Seaton were no match for Torquay, dismissed for only 108 in a nine-wicket defeat, but Budleigh Salterton beat Cullompton (110ao) by six wickets.
Kilmington and Chudleigh still lead B Division, but they both lost, to improving Thorverton and Bovey 2nds respectively.
The C East Division is shaping into a right old tussle.
Only five points cover leaders Exeter 2nds, who beat Whimple by 50 runs, and fourth-placed Shobrooke Park, (bt Ottery St Mary by 54 runs).
But keep an eye on Clyst St George (2nd) - they chased 244 to beat Braunton away and made it by one wicket with two balls to spare.
This Saturday's Devon League programme for East Devon clubs includes: Premier - Paignton v Sidmouth, Exmouth v Bovey Tracey, Exeter v Cornwood, Tiverton Heathcoat v Sandford; A Division - Cullompton v Torquay, Abbotskerswell v Budleigh Salterton, Plympton v Seaton; B - Dartington/Totnes - Kilmington, Ivybridge v Heathcoat II; C East - Clyst St George v Whimple, Sidmouth II v Shobrooke Park, Upottery v Exeter II, Ottery St Mary v Exmouth II, Sandford II v Braunton; D East - Sidmouth III v Kentisbeare, Barnstaple v Chardstock, Alphington/Countess Wear v Uplyme/Lyme Regis, Clyst Hydon v Feniton, Sampford Peverell/Tiverton v North Devon II.
