Devon’s youngs bowlers did well winning the Inter County U25 double rink, six of the eight young men playing came from Torquay United the other two from Plymouth and North Devon.
On Saturday, Torquay United played Egham in the semi-final of the Inter Club U25 Double Rink competition and won this convincingly with Egham conceding after 15 ends.
The final against Spalding in the afternoon was a much different affair coming out a draw. Louis Ridout’s rink of Sophie Tolchard, Josh (Bambi) Hadfield and Ryan Whitlock won 23-10 and Sam Tolchard’s rink of Joe Melmore, Cassidy Lenton and Ian Lesley lost by 10-23. The extra end needed was played by Sam’s rink which they won by one shot. This is the second time Torquay United have won this trophy in recent years showing what a strong youth section they and Devon have.
