Dorman's four

Sidbury Utd 10, Broadclyst SC 1Senior OneFour goals for Kevin Dorman earned him the star man award in this comprehensive performance, which saw his side swamp a Broadclyst team that was playing with the sadness of losing an ex-player, Tony Kyle, who died tragically while on his stag party in Spain. The game was almost cancelled but the Broadclyst players wanted it to go ahead as a mark of respect.It was Broadclyst who opened the scoring after five minutes when a move down their left found their striker through on goal and he left Seagulls' keeper Martyn Parker with no chance of stopping a superb headed goal. Sidbury levelled shortly after through Steve Popham when he headed home a cross from Ben Clay and, five minutes later, Dorman scored the first of his four goals with a tap in from six yards after his original header was saved. Matt Rasmussen finished off another well worked throw-in, firing home in style from 18 yards. Ben Woolley added the fourth just before the break.The second half belonged to Dorman, his second goal being scored after excellent work on the left wing from Russell Coombs when he headed home the excellent delivery from six yards. His hat-trick goal came shortly after and he scored his fourth on 60 minutes, firing in from six yards to cap a wonderful afternoon for a player who really looks to be enjoying his football.Joe Webber, who was on for the inspirational Popham, scored the best goal of the game when he chipped the keeper on 70 minutes from 20 yards out, Dorman was then replaced with Sam Elstub who scored with a well-taken strike from a great Webber through ball. Dan Norman got in on the act when he saw his deflected shot off a Broadclyst defender bobble over the line and, with five minutes remaining, Dan Churchill raced away to score the 10th.Manager Mel Coombs said: "We were all shocked at the news about Tony Kyle. "He played for me when I was manager of Sidmouth Town after I had met him at Ottery St Mary shortly after I had moved to the area. He was an exceptional talent. "As far as the game was concerned, respect was shown from both sides and, after Broadclyst scored, you sensed it was going to be their day. But it turned out to be one of those days for us that just saw most of what we tried come off. We scored excellent goals. It's a good time to be playing for Sidbury Utd and, although we scored 10 this time, we know we will be given a reality check on Saturday when we travel to Bow. If we can take anything from there I'll be happy.
