The celebrations for the centenary year, which were so enjoyable and very successful, are now over and its competition time as well as friendly matches and of course, visiting tourists, writes Beryl Sparkes.The raised flower bed in the Triangle garden has been laid out with plants to represent the club's centenary and looks very fine indeed, displaying the club badge 1908 - 2008. Members should really go and admire it.This week I can only report on the over-50s League matches played.Sidmouth v St Thomas: J Brimson, M Smith, C Smith 17-17; S Mison, E Stribling, J Bishop 19-13.Sidmouth v Crediton: K Lipscombe, S Mison, E Hewett 9-18; P Hague, K Valentine, C Turner 18-14.Is this a record? On Sunday Jill Bishop and Eileen Hewett played a Ladies' Handicap competition taking just over three hours and playing 38 ends!
