The Exeter University Aquathalon marks the final race in the local series, it is a 600 metre swim and a 5K run, writes Dennis Elliott.

The N1 Tri Club women turned up to race in good numbers.

Many people in the local community will identify Anne Ephraums as she walks down the street as she is recognised out as ‘woman who taught me to swim’.

Now, what some may not know, but perhaps unsurprisingly, is that Anne is a magnificent swimmer in her own right and on top of that her hard work during the winter has made huge improvements in her running.

On Sunday she won her age category completing the course in 34 minutes 30 seconds-a superb performance. Vannessa Glyn Jones was second in her category whilst Jane Beech was fourth in hers.

There were also a host of other excellent performances recorded by Sidmouth College teacher Ceri Henkus, Rae Owen, Sally Hutter and Allie Earp.

Tom Elliott scored for the men too as he came second in a 15-mile off road ‘Endurance life’ running race in The Flete Estate South Devon.
