Emily King’s incredible winning streak

Rising eventing star Emily King is ‘over the moon’ with a recent string of successes - including one of her ‘best results to date’.
The daughter of Olympic silver medallist Mary King clinched third place at Chatsworth International Horse Trials at the weekend, taking home the best under-25 prize against some of the world’s top riders.
This follows an incredible winning streak, which saw Emily ride to victory at the Young Rider European Trials at Aldon on March 21, and again at Aston Le Walls on May 13.
She achieved almost a full sweep in the Young Rider European Trials at Withington Manor on May 1 and 2, taking the second, third, fourth and fifth positions with different horses, just losing out on first place to Daniel Anderson with Cloud Atlas.
The 19-year-old, who is based near Sidmouth, said: “I’m very fortunate to currently have the best team of horses I’ve ever had.
“Brookleigh, my top horse, who’s owned by Jane Del Missier, finished third at Chatsworth, against some of the world’s top riders, which I was absolutely over the moon with.
“It was one of my best results to date.”
Emily said her next aim is to take horses, Loxley and Walitze F Vejgard, to compete in the Young Rider European Championships, which are being held in Strezgon, Poland, at the end of August.
Emily, of Salcombe Regis, then has her sights set on riding Brookleigh in her first four-star event in the autumn.
She said it will probably be too soon to realise her dreams of competing in the Olympics in Rio in 2016, but the Tokyo games in 2020 are a possibility.
Six-time Olympian Mary also said Rio is looking unlikely due to a lack of top horses.
