A group of juniors from the Sid and Otter Valley Riding Club headed up to the British Riding Clubs Festival of The Horse Championships at Aston Le-Walls-Northamptonshire.
Two teams of four and a pair’s team qualified for the weekend event by winning qualifying rounds earlier on this year.
The young riders competed in the 1m Hunter Trail Challenge, the Combined Training event and also the 90cms Pairs Challenge.
The 1m hunter trail challenge team was made up of; Cameron Beer, Imogen Carter, Flora Fraser and Hattie Pike whilst the Combined training team comprised of Cameron Beer, Imogen Carter, Flora Fraser and Harrison Oakley.
The 90cms Pairs duo were Flora Fraser and Harrison Oakley
There was a wonderful team spirit shown throughout the team over the two days of competition. Each day was certainly long – lasting from 7.30am until 7.30pm!
However, it all proved most worthwhile as the Pair’s team won their very strong section where they had to jump one round of show jumps each and then they headed out on to the cross country course together jumping one fence side by side.
To follow that success the combined training team went on to win the competition; each rider had to do one dressage test followed by a show jumping round.
Each team member rode a super test and backed that up with four excellent clear show jumping rounds. The 1m hunter trail challenge team finished in sixth position.
AS a result of their supreme efforts the team returned to Sidmouth tired, but laden with rosettes, sashes and rugs.
