Ever thought about trying the noble sprt of bowling - here’s your chance!

Have you considered taking up bowling, writes Elaine Reed.

It is a sport that is good for you - physically, mentally and socially. But don’t have the idea that it’s just for older people: It’s for all ages to enjoy and members of the national teams are mostly between 20 and 40 years of age.

You can bowl all year round both indoors and outdoors at Sidmouth Bowls Club. We cater for you on a daily basis if you just want to “roll up” with friends; if you want to play in club friendly games or if you relish the challenge of competitive matches at all levels; club, county and national. Also, all year round you can enjoy the bar and the varied social life of the club.

We welcome both experienced players ( require a short assessment only ) and those bowling for the first time in a warm and friendly environment.

For a total of 6 we provide experienced coaches to offer the requisite four training sessions, each of 90 minute duration, and are able to lend you bowls so you can quickly start enjoying the sport without significant initial expense, and if you decide you would like to join, the 6 training fee is deducted from your joining fee.

The fees are reasonable and much more affordable than gym membership or golf fees and you can play as much or as little as suits you. Try it out with us, with no obligation to join, at our Open Day on Saturday, September 10, between 11.00hrs and 13.00hrs.

We will facilitate your training in time to start the new indoor season at the end of September.

We welcome new members all year round and arrange training and assessments on an individual basis, so if you cannot attend the Open Day call into the club and fill out an application and someone will contact you. Alternatively, telephone Elaine Reed our training co-ordinator on 01395 512787 or Brian Smith our membership Secretary on 01395 516652 who will be happy to assist and answer any queries.
