On Saturday (May 18), Exeter City fans will be taking on Yeovil Town fans at Elmore FC for the Adam Stansfield Memorial Trophy.
The game kicks off at 11.30am, in order to allow players and fans to watch the League 2 play-off final between Bradford and Northampton at the clubhouse at Elmore, which kicks off at 1.30pm.
Since the passing of Adam Stansfield in 2010, Grecians and Glovers have been getting together to play football in memory of a hero of both clubs in order to raise money for the Adam Stansfield Foundation.
Exeter are current holders of the trophy, having triumphed for the first time last year (at the fourth time of asking) with a 3-0 at Coronation Field in Topsham. This year, Horsdon Park in Tiverton – where Adam was a regular for Elmore, before turning pro – will provide the venue for the fans’ cup.
Entrance is free for spectators, though players will be paying a £10 sub towards the Foundation. The clubhouse at Elmore will be open for the duration, and there will be a stall selling AS9 merchandise to raise additional funds.
City supporters are invited along to Elmore to support their fellow fans as they aim to retain the trophy – as well as raising money for the Adam Stansfield Foundation to raise bowel cancer awareness and give children and young people up to the age of 16 opportunities in healthy recreation through the provision of grants and facilities.
