Exeter City have completed the signing of striker Sam Parkin.

The 32-year-old front-man moves back to England to join the Grecians after having spent three seasons playing north of the border – for St Johnstone, Queen of the South, and most recently Scottish Premier League side St Mirren, with whom he won the Scottish League Cup last season.

After starting his playing career as a youth player at Chelsea, Parkin went on to have permanent spells with Swindon (with a better than one-in-two strike-rate over his three seasons), Ipswich, Luton, Walsall

He said: “Exeter were looking to bring in a front player, and fortunately after having a meeting with the manager and a really good chat, I’ve been down to have a look at the place and I’m really delighted to have signed.

“I know that Exeter have got a tradition of playing good football and the manager has obviously got a great reputation, so it was a no-brainer really – I didn’t have to think about it too hard. I’m just delighted to get another opportunity down here to play football and hopefully be part of a successful team.”
