Exeter Storm racked up three wins in the past week to stay clear at the top of the SW League.

With the season drawing to a close they hold what looks an unassailable lead.

The first of their wins came against Cardiff Celts.

Storm took early advantages in every set and didn’t give the Celts any opportunities to get back into the match with the final score being 25:11, 25:15, 25:20.

Their second game was against Plymouth Marjon and again Storm took the lead very quickly and maintained their dominance for the rest of the first set.

The flow of the game through the second and third sets was similar to the opening period as Storm closed out a comfortable 25:11, 25:9, 25: 14, three set success.

The week after their double delight Storm faced more challenging opposition, in Cardiff Wildcats and Bristol.

After a long journey to Cardiff, Storm got off to a slow start, allowing Wildcats to get the early advantage.

Veterans Kyle Alves and Vlad Zloy used there experience to gradually regain control of the game with calm distribution and strong blocking.

Storm eventually clawed back the initial deficit to clinch the first set.

The game remained tight in the second set until a run of well placed serves from Ben Fairweather created an unassailable lead.

The third set also went Storm’s way as they wrapped up another 3-0 win.

Next up a rare, and narrow, reversal as Storm slipped to only their second defeat of the season, beaten in a five set thriller by Bristol.

Plagued by early mistakes, Storm slipped well behind in the first set. However, the second set saw Storm recover, largely due to devastating hits from James Annells.

After winning the third set a convincing 25-18 with Mitch Abbott impressing in his new role as a middle blocker, Storm looked set to go on and land the overall win.

Bristol had other ideas though and won the fourth set to take the match to a deciding fifth.

With the momentum Bristol, they edged a thrilling final set to seal a 16-25, 25-23, 25-18, 23-25, 12-15, victory.

The consolation for Storm was that they had played in arguably the most entertaining matches of the SW League season.
