In second place was Paul Sexton, who is continuing to improve, and, in third, Duncan Taylor, who also is reducing his handicap on a regular basis lately. Malcolm Willoughby had cheese and biscuits at the 19th which he shared with Bob Welsman.l The seniors hosted Taunton and Pickeridge on Thursday. The weather for the match was very mixed but, after starting in rain, the sun did eventually appear and all matches finished in the dry. Despite the damp conditions, the greens were fast and proved puzzling for many of the visitors (and some of Sidmouth players) - a number commented that, as a result of the speed and unseen burrows, all their second putts seemed to be uphill! It remains to be seen how Sidmouth players will cope with a longer course and flatter greens in the return match later in the month. Result: Sidmouth won 5-1.The ladies 'Mail on Sunday' team were at home to Weston-super-Mare on Saturday, May 16, having got further in this national competition than ever before.
